Adventure Seekers Trip Itinerary

You know who you are – you make the most of any minute of downtime because those days off are limited so how you fill them is important. This two-day itinerary will get your heart pumping, show you some unexpected parts of Reno Tahoe, and ensure you’ll be back for more.

Day 1: A Dynamic Day in Reno’s Adventure Hub

Rise and shine, weekend warriors! Start your morning off on the right foot with a hike at Keystone Canyon, where trails will take you to scenic views of the city skyline. This is the perfect way to start your post-meeting trip extension, embracing the outdoors with clear skies and fresh air. After your hike, grab brunch at Squeeze In or PJ & Company for hearty menu options that satisfy your appetite. These local favorites get busy on the weekends but we promise it’s worth the wait!

Base Camp or Mesa Climbing Gym are great options to test your skills, whether you’re a seasoned climber or new to the sport. The Base Camp climbing wall at Whitney Peak Hotel in downtown Reno is home to The Guinness Book of World Records’ “World’s Largest Climbing Wall.” A trip to the top takes you 164 feet over Virginia Street and the Reno Arch, with views of the desert and Sierra Nevada. Mesa Climbing Gym is also a great option for those who want to drop in for a great indoor climbing experience. They offer classes, equipment rental and a variety of climbing experiences.

If climbing isn’t calling your name, or you want to leave the navigating to the experts, local tour companies can curate a memorable experience. Based in downtown Reno, Sierra Adventures has a selection of guided adventures to help you make the most of your time in the area, with something for every season, interest and skill level. Whether you’re craving a thrilling off-road adventure, exploring the region’s diverse landscapes, or a heart-pounding snowmobile excursion, they’ve got you covered!

We know you’ve worked up a thirst, so finish your day in Reno’s Brewery District, where the beer is always chilled and the atmosphere is always warm! Unwind at Lead Dog Brewery, nestled in the heart of Reno’s Brewery District, with a diverse range of expertly crafted beers, from hop-forward IPAs to rich stouts (like their Peanut Butter Stout). Meanwhile, Slieve Brewing Company is family-owned and brings you European-inspired beers with a unique taproom experience. If you’re looking for a Nevada classic, you can’t go wrong with a visit to either of Great Basin Brewing’s locations in Sparks (the original) and Reno. Pair one of their handcrafted beers with any of their mouthwatering menu items for the perfect way to end your day.

Day 2: Crystal Clear Adventures on the Water

Wake up early and join one of the guides from Reno Fly Shop for a morning on the river. Their guided fly fishing trips include all the necessary equipment and expert insights, ensuring you make the most of your time on the water, whether you’re a pro angler or a first-time fly fisher. Fishing with Reno Fly Shop is especially unique since you can walk from their shop in downtown Reno right to great fishing spots on the Truckee River. They also offer half-day and full-day float trips if you need more of an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Cool off from your hot catches by opting for a brunch experience at The Depot or Carlillos Cocina, one of Yelp’s Top 100 restaurants in past years. Whether you’re in the mood for an all-American feast or craving the flavors of a Mexican breakfast, both establishments promise to refuel you after your morning adventure.

It isn’t a trip to Reno Tahoe without a trip to Lake Tahoe, and there is no better way to experience the lake than getting on the water. A Lake Tahoe tour with Clearly Tahoe in their clear kayaks is pure magic as you navigate the iconic granite boulders along the shoreline with one of their experienced guides. If you prefer to relax or do a little of everything, head to Sand Harbor, where even more water adventures await, from paddleboarding to kayaking. Sand Harbor offers onsite rental options, ensuring a memorable Lake Tahoe experience tailored to your preferences.

On your way home, stop for some après-adventure refreshments at Alibi Ale Works – Brewery and Barrel House in Incline Village. Unwind in their taproom, where a rotating selection of craft beers awaits to satisfy your palate. Pair your brew with a tasty snack from their menu to make it the perfect pitstop to conclude your Lake Tahoe adventure. Can’t get enough of the great outdoors? Wrap up your extended trip at one of the area’s many patio dining options like Von Bismarck and Nevada Steak. The menus and outdoor dining experiences won’t disappoint as you get ready to head home.
