Collection of Personal Information
You don’t want your personal information to fall into the wrong hands. Neither does the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA).
When you visit VisitRenoTahoe.com, we may collect and store information about your visit on an anonymous basis, including information like IP addresses, browser types (such as Internet Explorer or FireFox), referring pages, pages visited and time spent on the Web site. Webtrends and Google collects this non-personally identifiable information for the following purposes: (1) to accelerate end users (2) to provide anonymous statistical analysis of Web page traffic patterns to our customers for their Web sites; (3) to administer our Web site and servers, (4) to allow for auditing of our services by third parties, and (5) to improve our services. The only PII we collect is the user ID, username and password on the login page, for confidentiality and security reasons.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s computer tied to information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. For the session ID cookie, once users close the browser, the cookie simply terminates. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the user’s hard drive for an extended period of time. Persistent cookies can be removed by following Internet browser help file directions.
It is the RSCVA’s policy to use cookies only for more accurate anonymous traffic analysis such as tracking the time/date of the visit, the pages viewed, the referring URL. The cookie information does not include personal data such as name, phone number, e-mail address or mailing address. In addition, the RSCVA does not link cookies to personal data such as name, phone number, e-mail address or mailing address. As we do not build a database of individual visitors, the data that we do collect is never stored in any individual user profile; the data collected serves only to update aggregate counts allowing our customers to monitor traffic on their site. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies.
Personal Data
There are opportunities on VisitRenoTahoe.com for you to provide us with information about you and your interests, such as your name, phone number, mailing address and e-mail address. If you choose to share any personal information with us, we may store it and use it for marketing research and other marketing purposes, which may include sharing it with constituents of the RSCVA and other business partners. Information collected on VisitRenoTahoe.com is used to determine important statistical data for the RSCVA, its partners and members to determine the effectiveness of the content, promotions and outbound e-mails. Users have the option of discontinuing the remittance of these by clicking on the Unsubscribe link on all communications, or by visiting VisitRenoTahoe.com/subscribe.
Security of Personal Information
We exercise reasonable care to protect your non-public personal information. This includes storing the personal information on our servers behind a secured firewall and ensuring all transmissions to other vendors use secure encryption technology. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. So while we strive to protect your non-public personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us or receive from us. This is especially true for information you transmit to us via e-mail. We have no way of protecting that information until it reaches us. Once we receive your transmission, we maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect your personal information.
Internally, we will limit access to non-public personal information to those associates who need the information to provide products and services to you or maintain or service those products or services. These associates are limited in number, and are committed to our privacy and security policies. We will review our security arrangements from time to time, as we deem appropriate.
