High-Flying Festival Action
Oh, you don't normally zip line across a raging river on your days off? Well, maybe you should start! Reno Tahoe is known for its epic events and the Reno River Festival, which takes place annually on the second weekend in May, is what we consider the start of events season (and summer!). From here on out, you won't have trouble finding music, food, arts and non-stop action in Reno and Sparks. So go ahead, clear your calendar and get ready for a wild ride.
Log Some Miles
It's no secret that there are hundreds of miles of amazing hiking trails around Lake Tahoe, but you might be surprised by how many great trails can be found just outside Reno's city limits. A short drive to one of the dozens of trailheads like Hunter Creek will have you escaping the urban hustle in a matter of minutes. Make your way to hidden waterfalls, skyline vistas or pine forests for a dose of fresh air.
Catch a Wave
Surf's up at Lake Tahoe! From the Truckee River in downtown to Big Blue, surf culture is alive and well in Reno Tahoe! Get a taste of the ocean when you try wake surfing, a unique mix of traditional surfing and wakeboarding. Never surfed or wakeboarded before? Not to worry! Local companies such as Tahoe Surf Company will set you up with all the gear you need and instruction to ensure you have an unforgettable day on the water.
Dust Your Boots Off
Not your first rodeo? Or maybe it is! Either way, the Reno Rodeo is a can't-miss event. Known as the Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West, and for good reason, this 10-day PRCA event takes place every June. In addition to world-class rodeo action, there's a midway where you can try your hand at carnival games and get your blood pumping on exciting rides. We invite you to channel your inner cowboy or cowgirl and saddle up for a good time!
Cheer on the Home Team
Reno is home to the Reno Aces, our Minor League Baseball team, has been playing at Greater Nevada Field since 2009. Since the teams share a season and a field, you're almost guaranteed to be able to catch a game when you're in town.
