Find fall colors in Reno Tahoe at these parks and trails
Reno Riverwalk District
Named one of "America's Top 10 Coolest Riverwalks," you're sure to see gorgeous fall colors along the Truckee River while being within arms reach of great shopping, inviting coffee shops and fine dining.
With more than 300 days of sunshine and moderate temperatures in Reno, fall is the perfect time to take advantage of the patio seating many spaces along the Riverwalk District offer.
Rancho San Rafael Regional Park
Explore one of the tree-lined, paved paths in this oasis located just north of downtown Reno. A stroll through the 13 acres of native and adaptive plants and trees in the Wilbur D. May Arboretum & Botanical Garden is a great way to take in the bright fall colors. (Plus, you'll likely run into some fun critters like rabbits and squirrels!)
Mayberry Park
Located along the Truckee River just west of downtown Reno, Mayberry Park offers paved trails perfect for strollers and young children. After a nature walk, enjoy a picnic at one of the tables surrounded by the vivid changing leaves. When you look up at the trees and their falling leaves, keep an eye out for the many species of birds that call this park home, including Red-tailed Hawks.
Callahan Park
This beautiful 25-acre park is just off Mt. Rose Highway on the south end of Reno. Indulge yourself in the the fall colors while using one of several picnic sites with a BBQ, playing on the horseshoe pits, or letting the kiddos play on one of two playgrounds. Take in the beautiful fall foliage along with sagebrush and pine trees, and hike the trails near the world-famous Montreux Golf and Country Club.
Lake Tahoe
Get a different perspective when you take in the fall colors from the beautiful water! The blue water of Lake Tahoe pops magnificently against the fall colors of the Aspen and Cottonwood trees. Get an stunning view of the lake from a kayak or paddle board... the water is calm and (believe it or not) warmer than in July!
Tahoe Rim Trail
Enjoy stunning views on one of the best hiking and biking trails in the country. Head to where the professional photographers go and snap photos of creeks, fir, pine and Aspen trees, not to mention panoramic views of the stunning Lake Tahoe.
