Evening Activities

When the sun sets, it's your time to shine.

When you travel for work, it’s easy to feel like you don’t get a chance to see much beyond the convention center walls. In Reno Tahoe, we want you to get out and explore! After all, there’s more to this city than conference rooms and hotel suites. We have plenty to do in the evenings after your meetings wrap up for the day, from dining to museums and events, you can find something to break out of the routine.

After Hours Ideas for Everyone

The good news is that Reno is a 24-hour town so you can always find something to satisfy your hunger or quench your thirst. Start the evening with some extra networking at one of the many happy hours in Reno or Sparks. If your event is at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, you can’t get any more convenient than happy hour at Bistro Napa inside Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. This one is a favorite every day of the week, including weekends, with specials on their appetizers and drinks. Another local favorite is Sparks Water Bar, with views of the Sierra Nevada mountains and their famous Wet Woody, it’s a great place to catch a sunset and start the night.

When your evening starts later or keeps you out past your usual dinnertime, you won’t go hungry! In MidTown, Homegrown Gastropub and Pizzava both keep their kitchens open until midnight or later. This neighborhood is well-known for lively bars and its walkability so you can hop from spot to spot, sampling food and drinks along the way. Downtown Reno is home to late-night dining options as well, including Our Bar, serving up classic bar food in a cozy setting, and Playfield 76, where you’ll find a blend of a bar, restaurant and arcade.

With museums, art installations, live music and performing arts centers, Reno Tahoe is a vibrant hub for art lovers. And even if you’re getting a later start, there are plenty of options to fill your calendar.

The Nevada Museum of Art, with an extensive collection of permanent and traveling exhibitions, is open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays, giving you plenty of time to stretch your legs while taking in the art by local, national and internationally-renowned artists. If you’re craving fresh air, a stroll through MidTown on your way to happy hour or dinner will take you past dozens of colorful murals, perfect for a photo op. The J Resort’s Reno Neon Line in downtown comes to life when the sun goes down with its jaw-dropping sculptures and neon art installations.

Local Reno theaters offer amazing productions, often with weekday show options. The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts is home to the Reno Philharmonic as well as their Broadway Series, meaning you can almost always catch a live performance. Make sure to check for tickets before your trip since shows do sell out! Stunning special effects, mystifying illusions and dazzling costumes come together in Magique, an ongoing show at The Theatre, held every Saturday and Sunday, but also various days during the week.

Take a break from all the planning, strategizing and information overload to cut loose a little bit with some friendly competition. Yes, the casinos have plenty of games to choose from, but if you’re up for something a little different, we have that too. Bundox Bocce is located inside the Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel, with plenty of room to bring a group. They have a menu with bar-style snacks and are open until 10 p.m. or later so you can start or end the night here. Unleash your inner lumberjack with some axe throwing at Reno Axe & Bar in downtown. Don’t worry, a woodchopping experience is not necessary, just a sense of fun and closed-toed shoes. For those who love a good riddle to solve, there are several escape rooms open late, including Key and Code Escape Rooms and Keystone Escape Games.

Don’t let the end of your convention day mean the end of your entire day! Reno has plenty to offer any day of the week. For even more ideas, check out our events calendar that’s filled one-of-a-kind festivals and year-round entertainment.
