Geiger Grade

The main artery between Reno and Virginia City, this 14.1-mile-long roadway winds itself through a rocky landscape and up to a summit of 6,804 ft. Geiger Grade is a popular place for spotting wild horses and offers breathtaking views of the valley below. Continue through Virginia City and down Six Mile Canyon, then complete the loop back to Reno by taking US 50 to Carson City, and I-580.

Mt. Rose Highway and Lake Tahoe Loop

What is known as the quickest way from Reno to Lake Tahoe is also a 25-mile scenic byway with sweeping views of Washoe Valley, Tahoe Meadows and Lake Tahoe. Once in the Lake Tahoe Basin, you can take the 72-mile drive around Lake Tahoe or venture southeast along NV-28 and explore the rugged east shore. Both US-50 and Kingsbury Grade in Stateline will take you to US 395 and back to Reno.

Genoa

Situated at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains, Genoa is filled with history and heritage. Make a stop here as part of a scenic loop – heading around Lake Tahoe to Stateline and over Kingsbury Grade, then north back to Reno on I-580. A pit stop at Genoa Bar & Saloon, the oldest bar in Nevada, is a must!

Burner Byway

The road out to the playa is not just for Burning Man attendees but is also a must for any biker. Its wide-open space and long straight roads make the Burner Byway the ideal spot for riders to enjoy a scenic view. Responsibly, of course. Enjoy the views of Pyramid Lake and continue up NV-477 to the small town of Gerlach. This small town was traditionally known as the Gateway to the Black Rock Desert and is home to the Land Speed Record. Learn more about the Burner Byway and all the quirky stops along this unique route.

McCarran Loop

Still want epic views without the mountain driving? The McCarran Loop takes you all around Reno and Sparks. Take the slight detour off Lakeside and make your way up to Windy Hill for great views of the city. This 23-mile loop will take you by some of the best spots of both cities with awesome urban views.
