From the Biggest Little City to the City of Lights, these Reno Olympians take on the Paris Summer Games.
Luke Hobson
A Reno High School and Lakeridge Swim Team Alumni, Luke Hobson will represent Team USA in the pool at the 2024 Summer Games. Hobson earned his stripes at the U.S. Olympic trials, where he won the 200m freestyle event to seal his first-ever appearance at the games. This summer, he will also participate in the 200m freestyle, as well as the 4x200m relay team as a result.
Perris Benegas
Reed High School Alum Perris Benegas is back on the Olympic stage, having made her debut finishing fourth place in the inaugural women's BMX park event in Tokyo, 2021. After coming off a torn ACL last year, Benegas looks to land on the podium in Paris this summer.
Moez Echargui
Tied for the University of Nevada, Reno’s winningest tennis player of all time (72), Moez Echargui will represent his native Tunisia in his first Olympics. While playing for Nevada, Echargui earned the accolades of WAC Freshman of the Year (2012), Mountain West Co-Player of the Year (2015), and made the all-conference singles team (2014 & 2015).
Gabby Williams
French basketball phenom and Reed High School graduate Gabby Williams will return to the Olympic court with home field advantage. Named a McDonald's All-American, Williams helped lead her team to a state championship title as a sophomore (2012) and is currently a forward for the Seattle Storm in the WNBA. Having earned a bronze medal with the French team at the 2021 Tokyo games, Williams and company are eager to challenge for gold with a full audience in attendance.
Stephanie Rovetti
Then Reno High track runner, now Team USA rugby sensation Stephanie Rovetti makes her Olympic debut this summer in Paris. After graduating from Reno, Rovetti attended BYU and Fresno State as a basketball player before finding success in rugby. Named MVP of the 2018 Club Sevens National Championships, the San Diego Surfer is one of only fourteen to make team USA.
Enkhkhuslen "Huska" Batbayar
A rising college freshman, Mongolian swimmer Enkhkhuslen "Huska" Batbayar will represent her native country months before joining the Wolf Pack at the University of Nevada, Reno. One of two swimmers representing Mongolia, Batbayar qualified to compete in the 200m freestyle event.
