Whether you are a bocce ball ace, cornhole connoisseur, putt-putt pro or arcade aficionado, there are pastimes for everyone in Reno.
Activities in Reno & Sparks
There are endless ways to have fun in Reno and sometimes it’s hard to choose just one, so last week Abbey Kay toured around town to find the most fun places to play. Check out all the ways she plays in Reno!
Bundox Bocce
Bocce ball is an old bowling-like game that I grew up playing as a kid with my Italian family and I’m so glad Reno now has a place to enjoy its fun. At Bundox Bocce at the Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel, you can play a game of bocce ball, throw some darts, play skee ball or corn hole, and watch whatever big sports game is playing on their massive TV, all while enjoying a cocktail or beer at one of Reno’s coolest place to play. Their outdoor patio is absolutely beautiful and decorated with teal patio furniture and hanging lights. Your whole family can enjoy Bundox year-round - staying cool in the summer and warm in the winter - all while learning a new game and playing a few of the old classics.
Press Start
Mario Kart. X-Men. Star Wars. Ghostbusters. The gang's all here! Press Start is an arcade and bar on Virginia Street, and it’s everything you dreamed of as a kid. Filled with racing games, themed pinball and so much more, it’s a great place to head for some friendly competition. I may have played and actually beat the X-Men game while I was there… Magneto was no match for me. So grab a drink and some quarters and try not to forget what time of day it is while you play in this grown-up arcade.
Mini Golf
Swing into a (mini) golfing adventure in Reno, where Magic Carpet Golf reigns supreme, with three enchanting courses, including two 19-hole wonders and a sprawling 28-hole course to challenge even the most skilled putter. You can really amp up the excitement at Need 2 Speed with a 9-hole black light challenge after some go-kart racing. Grand Adventure Land at the Grand Sierra Resort offers a tranquil 18-hole course surrounded by ponds and waterfalls. You'll feel like you're visiting a magical kingdom at Wild Island, with its fairytale castles, while Pirate's Cove is a treasure trove of childhood mysteries that offers a 9-hole black light adventure quest. Round off your golfing escapade at Boomtown's Fun Center, boasting over 30,000 square feet of family-friendly fun, including an indoor mini-golf haven. Reno's mini-golf scene delivers fun for the entire family, blending challenges and whimsical landscapes for a truly magical experience on the green.
The Eddy
Outdoor games? Yes, please! The Eddy is like a giant backyard filled with everything you could want to have a great time. Drinks, food, sunshine, your friends and yes, large life-size games all are found here at The Eddy. An enclosed oasis made entirely of recycled container pods, The Eddy lives right next to the Truckee River among beautiful downtown Reno buildings. If you’re into playing corn hole, oversize Connect Four or Jumbo Jenga, then your afternoon will be full of fun and competition. Did I mention they have pizza? They have pizza.
What way will you play in Reno this weekend?
